eluminocity charging stations are suitable for all common electric vehicles of all manufacturers, who are available in Europe. Through legal requirements, all plug systems are standardized in Europe. (i.e. for Europe Typ 2 electric vehicle charging plug, for USA Type 1 electric vehicle charging plug).
A Smart City is the model of a city that provides extensive knowledge through technically networked devices and sensors. These devices are distributed throughout the city and are usually linked to each other in such a way that city services, businesses or individuals can provide information (e. g. environmental data, temperatures or traffic flow data) enabling knowledge-based, smarter decisions to be made.

On demand lighting only uses the amount of energy which really is required. It lights on demand and adjusts lighting for approaching objects (e.g. car or pedestrian). If there is no object and therefore hardly any light needed, the lighting stays dimmed to avoid redundant power consumption. This concept can for instance be implemented effectively at traffic routes where pedestrians cross the street or areas where there is less traffic at certain times (industrial areas during evening hours/ weekends). Furthermore, light pollution is a huge environmental issue. Not only in the cities but on the countryside or near to nature reserves the reduction of light to a minimum is a major issue to protect the natural habitat of flora and fauna. The less disruptive light, the better for humans and environment.

State-of-the-art security chips that meet the highest safety standards are installed in eluminocity’s sensor modules. These chips use so-called DTLS encryption to ensure that all data is encrypted before it is sent. It also ensures that only authorized devices can communicate with each other, i. e. the counter key must be present. This ensures that access from outside or third parties is not possible.
Data security is our highest priority. The sensors used in our products can be updated over-the-air, which serves to close security gaps, open up further areas of application and subsequent product improvements. We are constantly working on extensions and the integration of all current IoT providers.
eluminocity charging stations are designed for the use in public and semi-public spaces and are therefore made of extremely robust and high quality materials. They are extremely user-friendly and can be operated in an innovative way. The intelligent technology installed in the charging columns is used to reserve the charging station or to charge for it via one of our backend partners. The authorization is carried out via RFID cards, smartphone or QR code.
The regulations for installing EV charging stations vary from country to country. Therefore, it is necessary to ask your appropriate authority to comply with the relevant regulations.
In general, there are two different types of charging because there are two types of electricity, AC (alternate current) and DC direct current). The so-called AC charging can be transmitted economically over long distances and has therefore established as standard. Compared to DC, only moderate investments are necessary to install a charging station Electric grids usually provide AC power, meaning the electricity must get converted into DC when you intend to charge DC. As electric cars need a lot of power to fully load the technical equipment needed to convert the power takes up a lot of space and is very expensive.
This cannot be answered sweepingly but is possible through an easy equation. Therefore, information about battery and charging capacity is needed. The equation is as follows: battery capacity [watt-hours]/charging capacity [watt] = charge time [hours]
Batteries of modern electric vehicles don not like to be fully charged. This leads to capacity losses more quickly. If it is nevertheless necessary or not possible in any other way, the journey should be started shortly after full loading. And when the battery is fully charged, the charging process ends automatically.
All eluminocity public charging stations can be found on common charging maps like Apple Maps or Moovility. For all other installation in semi-public areas it depends if the owner provides the charging station for public use. Yes, a reservation is possible up to 15 min ahead. In this case the elumino ring of the charging station will light up yellow until the person who reserved the station starts the charging process. If you do not arrive at the reserved charging point in time, the charging station will switch back into the available mode.
